Although now less involved in team assignments and operating mostly in an individual capacity, Steve Glendinning has led SG Consulting for a number of years, supported by a network of associates. His lead role has involved directing client engagements, leading responses to client challenges and situations, and calling upon carefully selected, credible and skilled professionals chosen for specific assignments against a clear understanding of client requirements.
Steve’s unique professional contribution to team assignments has included organizational strategy; the alignment of strategy-organization-people; the development of executive capacity; and the development of key individuals in positions of complex decision-making. More recently this is primarily achieved through personal participation on client Boards, engagement with family offices and Trusts, and/or working closely with senior decision-makers in their personal capacities.

Leadership, strategy and execution
Ongoing advice is provided to established clients to build continuous clarity of direction, strength of leadership, well organized management and executive capabilities, and superior performance of human capital assets. Very high emphasis is placed on relationship, trust and partnership in working towards agreed outcomes. Frequently this entails close partnership with the most senior leader, providing a sounding-board opportunity to him or her in dealing with decision complexity, or assisting to craft accurate solutions to leadership challenges.
Organizational assessment
Organizational Reviews are conducted as diagnostic interventions to assess current state, as well as identify and recommend opportunities for improvement. This typically involves extensive interviews with selected individuals to interrogate for example culture and ways of working, leadership style and approach, management controls, systems and procedures, or decision structures. This also involves understanding strategic KPI’s and assessing the degree to which organizational resources are aligned behind them, before recommending approaches to their realignment. An extensive and detailed report is presented to the client as the outcome of the assessment.
Organizational improvement
This focuses on better enabling the chosen business or operational model through careful organization design, while offering fresh perspectives to leaders of businesses, family enterprises or society organizations on how best to configure the resources available to them. At times this has involved assuming leadership roles within client companies in order to facilitate effective outcomes, and/or to lead the building of highly productive organizational capacity. Successful commercial outcomes are always top of mind.
Succession planning
I am intimately involved with a number of family businesses, specializing in succession planning and generational transitions. This includes readiness assessments of the incoming generation and their subsequent preparation and development, as well as personal assistance to the outgoing generation.
Individual coaching
I offer intense personal assistance to individuals in support of their career development, or where a person may simply require time out to reflect on life and their place in it. This includes partnering closely with leaders in their personal spaces where values, judgement, decisions and behavior are honed before emerging as unique attributes that successfully progress their world. This support is mostly grounded in the principles of Organizational Psychology, but draws on the discipline of Psychology generally.
